Iran's Book News Agency (IBNA) 27 Oct 2022 - 20:11 -------------------------------------------------- Title : Culture Minister pursuing legal means against Frankfurt Book Fair's "unprofessional conduct" -------------------------------------------------- IBNA- Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Culture Minister Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaili regarded the conduct of Frankfurt Book Fair's officials towards Iranian publishing industry delegation as unprofessional and stressed on pursuing legal means against such behavior. Text : Speaking to IBNA, Esmaili Said: “For us, it is very significant to attend international cultural and artistic events but more than that we are concerned for the status and prestige of Iranian cultural activists.”   Unfortunately the organizers of the 74th Frankfort Book Fair did not adhere to professional ethics didn t fulfill their commitments and had the least cooperation. So, we decided to retro from that event. We will surely follow legal methods to retrieve the trampled rights offer colleagues particularly in the private sector.   Earlier, the officials of FBF 2022 issued a letter stating that they are unable to guarantee security for the stand of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as the Iranian delegation in the upcoming book event.   In the same manner, without prior notice, they began to relocate the Iranian stand from the main hall to one of the sub halls with limited public access and enough facilities.‎   Iran s Book and Literature House Institute notified that the new location is not convenient and in accordance with the dignity of the representatives of the Iranian publishing industry.   On the other hand, despite previous coordination, the German Embassy in Tehran postponed issuing visas for the Iranian delegation.   As a result, the Book and Literature House Institute in Tehran announced that the ‎Islamic Republic of Iran has withdrawn from attending the 74th Frankfurt Book Fair ‎‎(FBF) scheduled for October 19-23.   Earlier in April, the institute had issued a call for active publishers, publishing associations, cultural institutions and literary agencies inviting them to register at the German book event on the website
