IBNA- An Italian play by Nina Dintrona and Giacomo Ravicio, 'Robinson and Crusoe’ translated by Ali-Reza Koushk Jalali will be directed by him at Sharzad Playhouse Complex in Tehran from today.
Inspired by the acclaimed novel ‘Robinson Crusoe’ by English writer, trader, journalist, pamphleteer Daniel Defoe (1660-1731) the plot is centered on two soldiers, Robinson and Crusoe, cast away on a deserted island. In this Iranian rendition of the play, the roles will be performed by Sa'eed Borj-Ali and Hossein Jeddi.
Despite its simple narrative style, ‘Robinson Crusoe’ was well received in the literary world and is often credited as marking the beginning of realistic fiction as a literary genre. It is generally seen as a contender for the first English novel.
The antiwar play portrays how humans leave enmity and turn to mutual understanding amid a violent struggle to survive which also has a layer of satire.
