Iran withdraws from attending 74th Frankfurt Book Fair
Earlier, the officials of FBF 2022 issued a letter stating that they are unable to guarantee security for the stand of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as the Iranian delegation in the upcoming book event.

In the same manner, without prior notice, they began to relocate the Iranian stand from the main hall to one of the sub halls with limited public access and enough facilities.

On the other hand, despite previous coordination, the German Embassy in Tehran postponed issuing visas for the Iranian delegation.

Participating in Frankfurter Buchmesse for over a decade, Iran's Book and Literature House Institute which provided opportunities for Iranian publishers and book activists in a variety of international book events has protested against the unprofessional practice of the FBF and what is called meddling in the interior affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran's Book and Literature House Institute notified that the new location is not convenient and in accordance with the dignity of the representatives of the Iranian publishing industry.

Earlier in April, the institute issued a call for active publishers, publishing associations, cultural institutions and literary agencies inviting them to register at the German book event on the website ketab.ir.

At the 73rd Frankfurt Book Fair, Iran's Book and Literature House Institute displayed over 400 books in the event on a variety of subjects such as Iranology, contemporary literature, Sacred Defense literature and the Islamic Revolution, Islamic studies, humanities, illustrated fiction books for children and young adults, environment, arts, poetry, linguistics and contemporary Iranian art in a stand established in an area of 40 square meters.

Furthermore, the institute planned 50 meetings between the representatives of our country's publishing industry ‎and publishers, literary agencies and unions from Canada, Australia, UAE, China, Hungary, Germany, Ukraine, the UK, Colombia, Turkey, France, Lebanon, Russia, Italy and Spain during the event.
