IBNA- The 8th Baku International Book Fair opened on Wednesday as Iran's House of Book and Literature as the representative of our country has attended the event with over 300 titles of books.
The Iranian books are on various fields such as children's and young adults' literature, fiction, poetry, Iranology, arts and tourism. They are displayed in a stand of 40 square meters.
Iranian author of books for children and young adults Mohammad Mir-Kiani is meeting other authors and discussing Iranian children's literature in the event which will run by October 9.
Invited by Azerbaijan's Culture Ministry, the Cultural Deputy of Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance Yaser Ahmadvand has attended the fair in which 145 exhibitors from 13 countries are taking part.
Several local and foreign publishing and printing houses, as well as bookstores and cultural centers, have participated in the fair, which will last for 5 days.
This book fair provides a unique opportunity for participants to demonstrate and sell their printed products, to negotiate and sign lucrative contracts with both local and foreign publishers and authors, including national publishing and printing companies.
Among the objectives of the fair are: promoting reading habits among the local population; creating a platform for holding meetings between writers and readers; creating opportunities for writers and publishers to build business relationships; and development of book business.
Promoting contemporary literature and authors by providing information for the exhibition visitors and improving the knowledge and skills of young writers through communication and exchange of experience are among the other tasks of the 8th Baku International Book Fair.
