National Library to hold series of open discussions on significant books
The first session of discussions which will be in English is scheduled to focus on the book ‘The Great Gatsby’ (1925) by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald will take place today at 4 PM and the chairman of the Foreign languages Center of Tehran University Hossein Nazari (PhD) will host the event. 
 
Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, near New York City, the novel depicts first-person narrator Nick Carraway's interactions with mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby's obsession to reunite with his former loved one, Daisy Buchanan. The novel in general portrays the absurdity of the American dream.
