IBNA- ‘That Raven’ (in German: Jener Rabe) a selection of poems composed by the celebrated Iranian poet Ahmad Shamlou was released in Germany last week.
According to IBNA correspondent, this collection which features a preface by the leading Iranian writer Mahmoud Dowlatabadi, was selected and translated into German by the Iranian author and translator Bahman Nirumand residing in Germany.
Illustrated by Luthar Buhrmann, ‘That Raven’ is published in 189 pages. In the preface, Mahmoud Dowlatabadi describes the poems of Ahmad Shamlou and his influence on the contemporary Iranian poetry.
Earlier, in previous decades, a number of Shamlou’s compositions were also translated into German. ‘That Raven’ draws on the best from poem collections by the great Iranian bard created during some decades.
The book also features an interview with Shamlou conducted by Nirumand in which the poet describes his views on literature and the Iranian Society.
Living several years in Germany, Bahman Nirumand has already translated a number of works by the Iranian writers such as ‘The Colonel’ by Dowlatabadi.
