IBNA- At an online meeting with the President of International Federation of ‎Translators (FIT) Kevin Quirk, President of Iran's Society of Translators and ‎Interpreters stressed on readiness to be the Asian Center of FIT.‎

In this online meeting, Mohammad-Reza Arbabi, President of Iran's Society of Translators and Interpreters discussed various other issues with Kevin Quirk‎ such as copyright in Iran, the general assembly of FIT and the situation of Iran's Society of Translators and Interpreters. ‎
Appreciating the efforts made by Iran's Society of Translators and Interpreters, Quirk pointed out that the financial supports of FIT‎ to the society for paying the membership fees was due to making such efforts. ‎
Following the meeting, Arbabi referred to the measures taken by the Iranian society to encourage buying copyright by Iranian publishers as a common mission with FIT.
He also spoke on methods for removing domestic and global obstacles such as economic sanctions imposed on Iran and both parties agreed to make a plan to overcome these obstacles. 
FIT (the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs) is an international grouping of associations of translators, interpreters and terminologists. More than 100 professional associations are affiliated, representing more than 80 000 translators in 55 countries.
The goal of the Federation is to promote professionalism in the disciplines it represents. It seeks constantly to improve conditions for the profession in all countries and to uphold translators’ rights and freedom of expression
