According to IBNA correspondent, Ayşe Kulin and Seyyed Ali Salehi held a two-hour ‎discussion as the other Iranian poet Sa’eed Fekri and Turkish writer Şehzade Iqwal were ‎also in attendance. ‎
Kulin has written over 30 novels and is from the same generation which introduced ‎prominent authors like Yaşar Kemal. She’s also a short story writer, screenwriter and ‎cinematographer. ‎
She graduated in literature from the American College for Girls in Arnavutköy, Istanbul. ‎She released a collection of short stories titled ‘Back to the Sun’ (Güneşe Dön Yüzünü) in ‎‎1984. A short story from this called ‘Gülizar’ was made into a film titled ‘Broken Baby’ ‎‎(Kırık Bebek) in 1986, for which she won a screenplay award from the Ministry of Culture ‎and Tourism. ‎
Salehi was born in Marghab Khuzestan Province of Iran in 1955. He has published dozens ‎of works over the past four decades. He has been known as a poet since 1980s, and his ‎works have always gained the attention of literary critics. ‎
Other books from this poet are as follows: ‘The Clairvoyant and the Pawn’, ‘Falling in Love ‎in December, Dying in September’, ‘You’re Late, …’ ‘The Heavenly Ones’, ‘The Last Love ‎Writings of Reyra’, ‘Prayers of a Woman Who Walked Alone on the Way’ and ‘Snow Trails ‎Stretched to the Full Maturity of the Rose’.‎
Earlier Salehi met with another prominent Turkish writer and poet Nedim Gürsel which was ‎widely covered by media in Turkey. Salehi has befriended literati of Kurdistan region in ‎Iraq during the past decades and now seems that Turkish literati have become interested ‎to his poetry as well.‎
At the end of her friendly discussion with Salehi, Kulin asked him to promise to visit ‎Turkey, a visit which seems so plausible.‎
