The general secretary of Ferdowsi Foundation said that in the field of Shahnameh, new research works are being prepared for publication.

IBNA: The conference of “Ferdowsi’s Wisdom” was held by the Ferdowsi Foundation and the Association of Philosophy evaluating the philosophical thoughts of the noted Iranian poet. Accordingly the Ferdowsi Foundation has decided to release a collection of articles themed on the conference. 

The general secretary of Ferdowsi Foundation Yaser Movahhedfar said: “The conference of “Ferdowsi’s Wisdom” was received warmly and we have decided to release a collection of articles themed on the conference. The work is being prepared by Meisam Movahhedfar.” 

He added: “Interested scholars and philosophers can send their articles to the foundation’s secretariat which should be themed on “Shahnameh’s wisdom and ethical instructions”. However an official call hasn’t been released yet and we are receiving articles by the conference’s main speakers.” 

He then talked about the special issue of Khorasan daily released on the occasion of Ferdowsi Day saying: “The work was published on May 14 which enclosed interviews with professors and Shahnameh researchers about Shahnameh and Ferdowsi. The work was chosen by the Islamic Guidance and Culture Ministry as a top work.” 

Movahhedfar then talked about the publication of a book holding the articles of young Shahnameh researchers explaining that he had compiled and edited the collection himself and it will be released soon.

The book, entitled “The global thoughts of Ferdowsi”, holds 40 articles of young Iranian and foreign Shahnameh researchers from countries including Tajikistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Germany, France and Italy. 

He then talked about another collection which is being prepared by the foundation saying: “A collection of interviews with Iran and the world’s Shahnameh researchers, about the latest achievements of Shahnameh researching, is being prepared by Zahra Delpazir.” 

He pointed out to the preparation of a collection themed on the Quranic and religious instructions of Shahnameh. Considering the impact of Islamic instructions on Ferdowsi’s thoughts, a book is will be compiled as “The ethical instructions of Shahnameh.” 

All the research works will be prepared by next year. Hopefully we will be supported by the Islamic Guidance and Culture Ministry, he noted. 

The encyclopedia of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh is another book which is being compiled by the foundation. 

Shahnameh’ (Grand Book) is a classic among epic Persian poetry and recounts Iran’s mythical and historical past. It was written in Persian at a time when Arabic was the main scientific and literary language of Iran. 

The romance of Zal and Rudaba, the Seven Stages (or Labors) of Rostam, Rostam and Sohrab, Siavash and Soudabeh, Rostam and Akvan-e Div, the romance of Bizhan and Manizheh and Rostam and Esfandiar are among the most popular ‘Shahnameh’ stories. 

The book is composed of about 55,000 couplets and recounts Persian history and mythology from the earliest times to the fall of the Persian Empire in the 7th century CE. 

‘Shahnameh’ has been one of the greatest inspirations of Iranian people in life and arts and among the first Persian manuscripts to be illustrated.
