Book of the Year Jury to meet with Culture Minister
A meeting is arranged to be held tonight at the conference hall of Tehran's Laleh Hotel in the presence of minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Husseini and as many as 200 members of the panel of judges for the 27th book of the Year award of the Islamic Republic of Iran. IBNA: Besides the judges and culture minister, Mohsen Parviz, cultural deputy of Guidance Ministry, and a number of the cultural officials of the culture ministry will also attend the meeting.
As one of the programs of the gathering, judges of the 27th Book of the Islamic Republic of Iran Award will be praised and they will be given tribune to express their views with regard to the award.
The two-hour gathering will begin in an hour (6.18 PM) at the conference hall of Tehran\'s Laleh Hotel. Previously, the culture minister had arranged the same meeting with publishers of the country to learn about their main concerns.
Former secretary of the book of the year award Ali Ojabi had previously said that the award had passed a quarter of a century and revisions were made to the bylaw of the award during the quarter.
He had also said that the revisions would have to be passed by the supreme court of the Cultural Revolution to be materialized.
"So far, judges were not given an opportunity to mirror their views about the award with the culture minister," he said.
The acting secretary of the award, Mohammad-Reza Sarshar, maintains that the chief objectives of the award are not changeable.
"Given 27 years of experience for the award, it enjoys a well-designed memorandum of articles and during these years amendments have been appended to it," he said.
As he said, the main objectives of the award are definite and unalterable. However, in case flaws are reported in the bylaw of the award, changes can be assumed without changing the basics of the award.
He went on to say that the award\'s secretary has no authority to make changed in the basics of the award and in the best case will be able to appoint judges based on justice.
In the meeting, the judged are expected to discuss amendments in the bylaw of the award with cultural officials of the country.
In a short interview with IBNA, Sarshar said he will address some points about changed in the bylaw of the award.
