Mathematics dramatized: First Persian scientific play in Iran
The first scientific play in Iran titled "The Legend of the King and the Mathematician" is written by Mehdi Behzad and Naghmeh Samini. Penned on demand of the House of Mathematics of Gießen in Germany, the play discusses mathematical problems in a legendary framework. IBNA: The play deals with a number of enigmas that besides challenging the minds of the audiences, involves them in mathematical problems and finally leads to pleasure. As the first scientific play ever published in Iran, the book invites the audiences to try to solve simple and sometimes old puzzles that are both exciting and interesting.
Mehdi Behzad began writing this play four years ago to the request of the House of Mathematics of Gießen (Giessen) in Germany, but later on asked well-known Iranian playwright Naghmeh Samini for cooperation.
In a foreword written by the publisher of this volume, this work is regarded as belonging to the 'Development Literature': "Propagation of knowledge and new sciences and promotion of scientific thinking are the main goals pursued by the Legend of the King and the Mathematician."
This legend includes the stories of snob kings who find in themselves no need or crave for wisdom or knowledge of the time."
The Legend of the King and the Mathematician is recently published by Dibayeh Publishing House.
