ICRO pursues Translation campaign
At the summit of Translators, Optimization Promotion, head of the Organization of Islamic Culture and Relations said the organization has set up a translation campaign for dissemination of Islamic knowledge and thinking in the world. IBNA: According to the public relations office of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the summit was held in the presence of a number of the organization's experts and researchers in translation.
In the meeting, Dr Mahdi Mostafavi delivered a speech in which he stated that one of the greatest goals the Islamic Republic of Iran's system is seeking is translation and publication of Islamic knowledge and thinking in the world and starting a translation movement for those interested in the knowledge in different languages.
"The Supreme Court of the Cultural Revolution ratified a bill to organize translation of publication of books on Islamic knowledge and humanities sciences," said Mostafavi stressing the need of domestic and foreign researchers for Islamic references. "The responsibility of fulfilling the requirements of the bill was devolved to the ICRO. Since its establishment, the organization has been trying to form up a bond among the main cultural institutions in the country and adept translators in various fields."
He further discussed the needs and expectations of the organization's target readers and stated that humanities and Islamic sciences are the two major fields the center is engaged with.
He went on to speak about the specialized library of translation and the information bank of publishers and translators of the ICRO and maintained that the establishment of the library is chiefly aimed at provision of data on all the works done by the organization. Moreover, elimination of parallel works is another aim of the library, he added.
Later in the gathering, Ali Asghar Saberi, supervisor of the organizing center of translation and publication of Islamic and humanities sciences, said formation of specialized translation groups was one of the main goals of the gathering.
He stated that analysis of different books and considering them for translation besides identification of the best works for translation are some of the main missions of the center. "In the same line, the first translation training course in the presence of guests from 12 countries will be held during the second half of Shahrivar (September) in Tehran" he added.
He reckoned that rendition of persian books into other languages of the world is a cultural necessity. He also called on translation center to lend a hand to the movement for the betterment of the works. Id : 79911 |
