Discussed at the House of Literati:

Research, ideological backbone necessary for Revolutionary literature export

5 Feb 2012 15:09
Experts attending the 'Necessity to Globalize Revolutionary Fiction' winded up the session with consensus over the fact that revolutionary literature is not yet forceful enough to be exported to other countries. They also stressed on the necessity for research and ideological backing of the literary genre in order to make it long-lasting.
IBNA: The session titled 'Necessity to Globalize Revolutionary Fiction' was held on Saturday evening (February 4) at the House of Literati with the presence of experts Akbar Khalili, Firouz Zenouzi Jalali, Kamran Parsinezhad and Aliallah Salimi.

During this session, Firouz Zenouzi Jalali called attention to the ideological axis of literature and said: "In order to introduce our literature to the world, we should first set our ideology, since nothing can change world beliefs as literature does. If we believe that Islamic Revolution is based on a certain ideology, we should then offer a literature of our own."

Zenouzi Jalali went on to say that despite the 33-year-old history of the Islamic Revolution, the number of good Holy Defense writers are fewer than ten and now we should also think twice about the translatability of these works in terms of form and structure.

He added: "unfortunately most writers do not take effort in studying our contemporary history. And while all superior novels of the world are ideology-oriented, our writers suffice with what they have witnessed in the first decade of the revolution. What need now is an analytical approach to writing literature of revolution."

Then Kamran Parsinezhad emphasized on the significance of literature and its effect on political movements, terming fiction as the most important genre in the field of Islamic Revolution.

He also called revolutionary literature as the subgenre of political literature and added that in the west, the effect of fiction on political and intellectual movements is measured and we see that before American invasion to Iraq, a number of novels had been written on the possibility of the event. They actually train their political writers and put them through valid and even ultra-confidential information.

In order to create revolution literature, we should first train researching writers who probe into the historical ground, causes and effects of the revolution in the prime of this event, said Parsinezhad. History plays a fundamental role in here and historical complexities should be first solved out by researchers as we are involved with a kind of revolution that has caused great ideological transformations.

The next speaker was Akbar Khalili who emphasized on from and structure appropriate for a global work and suggested a call for writing revolutionary fiction organized by culture ministry.
