Imam filled Sacred Defense front gaps for Iranians

Writer of the Fall of Ganjeh and Khoramshahr Conquest maintains that Imam Khomeini’s leadership filled the gaps for Iranian forces during the Sacred Defense.

IBNA: Hassan Rahimi whose book is about to be reprinted, said that he has evidence that Iraqi forces were on average 2 times more than Iranians given their weaponry and troopers which sometimes reached 5 times more than Iranians; however, Imam Khomeini’s leadership filled many gaps for Iranian forces during the war.

Hassan Rahimi (Roshan) had an interview with IBNA in which he claimed that the balance of power between Iran and Iraq during the war was at least one to two and sometimes reached one to 5.

He said that the book draws a comparison between political leaders of Iran in the past 200 years so far as the military is concerned.

He argued that leaders played in a key role in most of the failures and victories whether they governed a republic or it was kingship.

The university lecturer went on to say that Iran got into three battles during the Qajar dynasty; two with Russians and one with Brits. As he asserted, there was a complete balance of power between the two sides of the clashes but Iran was beaten in both of them.

“It was clear that the lack of competence on the side of Iran’s political leaders was the main cause of its failures in the wars,” he further added. “Indeed, there were several prominent generalissimos during the Qajar dynasty, but the leader’s outpowered them and they failed to do well in the clashes. Qajar leaders even spared many military successes which could add to the country’s political prowess.”

The book excludes the impact of WWI and WWII on Iran because of its marginal role in the wars, he added. The two wars broke out in a time contemporary with the Pahlavi regime in Iran.

The book further tries to find the roots of Iran-Iraq conflicts and the backdrops of the war between the two nations. It also accounts on the chief missions during the war by Iranian forces against Iraqis and elaborates on the role of Imam Khomeini in leading the forces during the war.

Rahimi posited that Imam Khomeini’ ideologies, leadership and charisma compensated for many shortcomings Iranian forces were faced with and as a result of which no part of our country was separated and the borders did not change during the 8 years of the Sacred Defense.

The book is published by the Sacred Defense Works and Values Preservation and Publication Foundation.
