Versified Shahnameh translation released in Georgia
The versified rendition of Shahnameh in Georgian has been released in Tbilisi. The book is embroidered with miniature paintings by Yousuf Gabashvili. IBNA: According to the public relations office and information center of the Islamic Culture and Relations Office (ICRO), the translation has been prepared by Bella Shalvashvili in40 years.
Ehsan Khazaei, Iran's cultural attaché in Georgia, has said that the translation is exquisite in that it very well resembles the original text. To finish the book, the translator had to have it proofread meticulously by masters like Alexander Gvakharia, and David Kvatadze during 40 years of its completion.
As Khazaei said, one on the most serious concerns of the ICRO is to support research, translation and publication of works on Iran in Georgia. Also, holding conferences and sessions on various literary topics in Georgia's scientific and academic centers besides praising Shahnameh translators in the country are supported by the organization, he added.
