Critique session of Nathalie Sarraute's "Ouvrez" in the House of Literati: Sarraute aimed to redefine words
In the critique session of Nathalie Sarraute's "Ouvrez", Mehrgan Nezamizadeh said: Sarraute believed that words were the keys of mind and according to her and to modern writers words should be washed and redefined. IBNA: In the book critique session held in the House of Literati yesterday evening (January 31) which was held with the attendance of Ehsan Abbaslou and Ali Abbasi, Mehrgan Nezamizadeh said: Sarraute wrote her first work in 1939 with the support of Jean Paul Sartre and later continued her work in Gallimer publications.
He added: Modern writers believe that new novel should be based on a big change of thought. For them, Balzac is the height of classic literature.
This translator said: I her early works Sarraute tries to find how one should write about people or addresses them.
He said: Sarraute believed that human mind is like a filter though which the information of the world passes and the result is language. She believed that words are the keys of mind.
Nezamizadeh said: Modern novelists believe that words should be redefined and the verb "Ouvrir" in French has several meanings. These writers believe that we can not come to a definite final meaning for the new novel.
He also referred to Sarraute's ideas in "Ouvrez" and said: Another issue in Sarraute's work is that she says we, human beings, want to give new meaning to the world around us by foregrounding some things. She also introduces new discussions about pronouns.
Abbaslou said: The translator's work is very hard when dealing with texts such as this one.
The other critic attending this session was Ali Abbasi, he said: The principals of novel writing are not observed in this work, the writer probably wanted to break the construction to create new meaning.
Abbasi said: Sarraute aims to redefine the words and go back to their basic mythological meanings. She writes all of her works based on this attitude.
He added: This novel includes 2 poles of truth and it is not simply a philosophical or linguistic book. The words are characterized in this book and this shows the writers skillfulness in story writing techniques.
"Ouvrez" is translated into Persian by "Nazanin Shahdi" and is published by Varjavand publications.
Nathalie Sarraute published her first work when she was 33. In her 99 years of life she published 21 books including novels, plays and collection of essays. Id : 61513 |
