Dibayeh Publications is to publish Dr Ali Ferdowsi's collection of articles. In these articles, he makes a survey of the history of truth-telling in Iran and human being's conditions as an agent creating himself and the world around him. IBNA: Dr Ali Ferdowsi said: "These articles that are now under publication include different readings of Persian texts mostly in the light of Foucault's theories."
According to Ferdowsi, these articles tend to analyze Iranian people's relation with truth.
He added: "In this book I have discussed truth-telling in characters such as Ein-ol-Ghozat, Mawlavi, and Hafez as well as in contemporary figures like Sadegh Choubak and Esmail Fathi."
Ferdowsi is the professor of the History of Ideas in Notre Dame University of California. He considered his approach in this book influenced by teaching in this particular field and said: "In this field I attempt to understand the behaviors and ideas whose practice in each period would lead to the humanity of human beings; these behaviors and beliefs vary according to each period."
He continued: "We are biologic creatures that have to undertake a number of responsibilities in order to become real humans. I graduated in sociology, a field of study that takes human being first of all in his causality and as a byproduct of society."
Then referring to the differences of his approach to society and mankind compared with the dominant trend of sociologists, he explained: "I regard mankind as an agent and as a creature that can build himself as well as the world around him."
Dr Ali Ferdowsi's articles will be released by Dibayeh Publications.
