Patriarchy tells about history of Matriarchy
The book ‘The Patriarchy’ is written by the American Evelyn Reed. This woman has made research in the field of anthropology from a leftist feminism approach and believes that matriarchy was the primary social institution in all human life. IBNA: Afshang Maghshoudi, translator, said “The writer precedes matriarchy throughout history and brings historical evidences and testimonies to prove her claim.”
He further said, “Leftist feminists believe in Marx’s ideas about the evolution of history and consider this when studying women”.
He continued, “Accordingly, they believe that in primitive human societies, first matriarchy has been the dominant trend and after a while, mothers’ decree gave way to fratriarchy and later on to patriarchy.
This writer referred to the formation of patriarchy about eight thousand years ago and said, “It might be possible to trace such a claim back in Iran’s ancient history as all Iranian goddesses were totally female and this can justify matriarchy in ancient periods of Iran.”
Afshang Maghsoudi has so far translated four books of Evelyn Reed titled “Matriarchy: The Evolution of Women”, “Problems of Women’s Liberation”, “Cosmetics, Fashion, and the Exploitation of Women” and also “Sexism and Science”.
As the title shows, Reed in this book has had an eye on anthropology from feminist point of view. “Patriarchy” which is in final stages of translation is set upon the same context.
