Society of Zoroastrian Students to hold 5th book reading contest
The 5th edition of Society of Zoroastrian Students' book reading contest will be held on Feb.16. "The Little Prince", "Xenophon's Cyrus the great: the arts of leadership and war" and "The Alchemist" will be the competition's books. IBNA: The previous edition was held during the Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran for students of elementary and Middle Schools.
The Little Prince (French: ''Le Petit Prince''), first published in 1943, is a novella and the most famous work of the French aristocrat writer, poet and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
The novella is both the most read and translated book in the French language, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France, maintaining sales of over one million copies per year worldwide. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects, with sales totaling more than 200 million copies, it has become one of the best-selling books ever published.
The book has been converted into Persian by several translators.
"Xenophon's Cyrus the Great: The Arts of Leadership and War" a book by Xenophon has been rendered into Persian by Mohammad Ebrahim Mahjoub.
The Alchemist is a novel by Paulo Coelho first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it has been translated into 67 languages as of 2009. An allegorical novel, The Alchemist follows a young Andalusian shepherd named Santiago in his journey to Egypt, after having a recurring dream of finding treasure there.
