  Modiano's Horizon hits bookshelves

6 Feb 2012 11:36
Hossein Soleimaninejad translated Patrick Modiano's "L'Horizon" (The Horizon) into Persian. The story centers on the city of Berlin and the adventures of the main character in search of a woman lost in his memories.
IBNA: In "The Horizon", a man decides to search for a woman he has met 35 years ago.

Patrick Modiano is a French novelist born 30 July 1945 in Boulogne-Billancourt of a father of Jewish Italian origins and a Belgian mother. He is a winner of the Grand prix du roman de l'Académie française in 1972, the Prix Goncourt in 1978 for his novel Rue des boutiques obscures. Modiano was honored with the prestigious 2010 Prix mondial Cino Del Duca by the Institut de France for his lifetime achievement. He is also a well-known novelist in other countries and most of his works are translated into other languages.

French critics consider his writings an internal quest – a desire Modiano fulfilled through living the life of his fictional characters.
The Occupy of France and war of Algeria are other common events in his stories. The Horizon, too, centers on the city of Berlin and the ignited war there.

Soleimaninejad has also translated some other works of Modiano into Persian such as "Une Jeunesse" (Youth), "Villa triste" (Tristful Villa).

Modiano's "Dimanches d'août" (August Sundays), "Dora Bruder", and "Catherine certitude" are also available in Persian by other translators.

Modiano's "The Horizon" is converted into Persian by Soleimaninejad and will be soon released in 'New World' series of Cheshmeh Publications.
