A ceremony was held Saturday morning, Feb. 25, on commemorating the organizers of the Book Week in which Islamic Guidance and Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Husseini said:" The ministry's main priority is paying heed to books and reading and finally boosting the per-capita reading."

IBNA: A ceremony was held this morning on hailing the organizers of the 19th Book Week which was attended by Islamic Guidance and Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Husseini, his deputy in the cultural affairs Bahman Dorri as well as media fellows and the ministry's officials.

Welcoming such session, the minister said:" The Book Week was a symbolic movement which indeed indicates the organizer's responsibilities."

Husseini added:" Incidents such as Book Weeks and sessions held on criticizing books are effective programs for developing reading in the country."

All the activities are set up in line with boosting the per-capita reading in Iran. An ambitious society should be learned which indeed is achieved through reading, he added.

Moreover he added:" We should constantly look for opportunities to promote books. Organizations including the Education Ministry should help the cultural activities to improve."

In other news, the Deputy Minister of Islamic Guidance and Culture in the cultural affairs said that the Book Week's positive point was the conference which was held on the problems of Iran's publication according to the publishers.

The 19th edition differed with other editions since different institutes and organizations participated which indeed helped the event's richness, he added.

Moreover the secretary of the 19th Book Week Mohammad Allahyari presented a report of the week saying that the province's participation in the Book Week indicated the event's expansion and progress.

Furthermore the Book House Institute's managing director Ali Shojaee Saeen delivered a short speech saying one of the most popular book programs held in Iran is the Book Week. The Book House did its best to improve the cultural event which will increase for the next editions as well.

Finally the organizer's of the 19th Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran were awarded with testimonials and gold coins.
