  Book of the Season Award wraps up

Closing ceremony of the 11th Book of the Season Award was held Tuesday (10 March) evening in the House of Literati where selected authors of praiseworthy works received their awards as well. Some 4152 works were assessed in the edition of which 14 were selected; 6 compilations and 8 translations.
IBNA: The ceremony kicked off with reciting verses of the Holy Quran and Iran's national anthem. The general manger of Book House Institute, Ali Shojaee Saeen said: "The Award's 3rd year is approaching and we are witnessing its positive effects."

He added: "Book of the Season Award has great consequences as introducing individual and precious works while the opportunity was not provided in Book of the Year award since we were limited to select works and sometimes even a work wasn’t introduced."

He went on to say that in the previous edition 3722 and in the 9th edition 3484 works were judged, this year they boosted to 4142 books.

Moreover following screening a video clip, Mohammad Hussein Saket who has rendered "Life of 14 Infallibles" said: "The book is penned by Abu-Ali Fazl Ibn Hassan Tabarasi and it is a mere and important translation."

In other news, Majid Amigh, who won in the children and teenagers' category delivered a critical speech on translating methods and said: "Translation is a pest and a gift as well."

He added: "If we wish to translate a book we should dominate the work completely is not we should avoid it."

He went on to say that translators should consider the concept as well since we have commitment we should work with more caution."

In other news, Hujat Ul-Islam Seyyed Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad the author of "Public theory of conditions and liabilities in Islamic laws", which was announced as a praiseworthy book, delivered a speech.

He expressed his gratitude form the Book House Institute which honors the literati.

He went on to say that "Public theory of conditions and liabilities in Islamic laws" is his 20th compiled book on Islamic jurisprudence's liabilities.

Furthermore Shareh Kamrani, whose poetry book was selected, recited her poems for the attendees.

The award's secretary, Mohammad reza Sarshr toke the stage and said: "Knowledge is the common heritage of humanity and no prejudice exists on the works."

According to the categories the statistics read so:

Generalities: 46 works, Philosophy and psychology: 384 works, Religion: 596, Social science; 699 works, Language: 63 works, Special science: 107 works, Practical science: 480 works, Art: 247 works, Literature: 938 works, History and geography 252 works, Children and teenagers 340 works.

He added that following the first assessments 198 works were shortlisted and finally 14 works were selected of which 6 were compilations and 8 were translations. Moreover 38 books were picked as praiseworthy works of which 20 were compilations, 15 were translations and 2 were research and edited ones.
