To be announced at Quran Fair

Manager of the University section of the 18th International Quran Fair said assessments on the Quranic theses have been finalized for BA, MA and PhD levels and the select works will be honored in the closing ceremony of the event.
IBNA: Rahim Ghorbani said the select theses will be honored during the closing ceremony of the fair on September 2, 2010. 

As he added the screenings on the submitted theses began last week. Half of the theses were filtered out in the first round of assessments by the judges. During the second round, more experienced and skilled assessors are added to the panel of judges to halve the works again for the final heat. 

Ultimately, 15 theses in three levels of BA, MA and PhD will be awarded by the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Technology, the Islamic Azad University and the University of Quranic Sciences and Knowledge. 

He went on to say that screenings for artistic works in the university section of the fair have been summed up for calligraphy, industrial arts, graphics, painting and Tazhib (illumination) and 18 select artists have been picked who will be honored in the closing ceremony as well. 

He further added that a ceremony was held in the university section for the fair to unveil the latest Quranic works in the presence of Hujatoleslam Mohammadi Araghi, Hamid Mohammadi and a number of Quranic masters and scholars. 

The Quranic information center of Student Basij, the comprehensive Najm Quranic theses software which contains as many as 6000 Quranic theses in its database and the Ghabs Translation and Interpretation Book were the three works which were unveiled during the ceremony and were put on public display. 

In Najm program theses belonging to three levels of BA, MA and PhD are mustered making it a wealthy resource for researchers and interested readers. 

The 18th International Quran Fair began on August 8, 2010 at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground and will run through September 3. 

Works in a wide range of topics are put on display at the fair including topics like seminary, university, education and training, Quranic interviews, cultural stuff, books and publication, information technology and digital media, children, young adults, families, rites and rituals, poetry and literature, translation of the Holy Quran, dramatic arts, international, Quranic wisdom and understanding, visual arts, photography, and institutions and organizations. 

The showcase is open to the public from 5 to 12 p.m. every day.
On holidays the fair opens at 2p.m.
