Culture minister meets veteran poets
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Husseini, met three veteran poets in their domiciles to honor their works. IBNA: According to the public relation and international affairs department of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the culture minister Mohammad Husseini visited the poets' houses parallel with Imam Ali's martyrdom anniversary. Himad Sabzevari, Abbas Moshfegh Kashani and Abdolhamid Haeri were the poets who welcomed the minister in their houses. The poets are prominent ones in country's contemporary culture and literature.
In the meetings, Husseini praised them for their works. He also stated that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei is deeply concerned about their health.
The three failed to attend a meeting with the leader due to health problems.
Husseini also asked them to air their views about the present being of the country's poetry.
He further added that the ministry is very much decisive about lauding cultural as well as literary figures of the country subsequent to a cause initiated by the ministry to honor prominent figures and their works.
He invited the poets to the Iftar ceremony arranged next week with the ministry's officials and a number of literati.
The minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance went on to highlight the poets' brilliant background and oeuvres regarding the Islamic Revolution, the Sacred Defense and the Prophet's House poetry. He also endorsed the publication of their unpublished works.
Also in the meeting, Sabzevari, one of the revered poets, expressed happiness to have the minister in his house and stated that such arrangements give veteran literati self-assurance.
The Revolution lyrist went on to say that it is very exhilarating for poets to see that government officials do care about them and their works.
He further noted the meetings of the leader with poets and the literati and said at the beginning the sessions were held in his house but after a while the venue of the event changed to somewhere else. "The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei is himself a poetry scholar," he added.
At the end of the meeting, Sabzevari and the minister exchanged some presents.
In his house, Abbas Moshfegh Kashani, another revered poet, stated that for the emerging poets to thrive, they need to hinge upon old literature and learn about it as much as possible.
He further extended his gratitude towards the minister for attending his house. He also rehearsed some of his compositions and related some of his memories. Id : 114551 |
