The book ‘Softness of Sorrow’ contains 12 pieces of music composed by Dariush Pirniakan in Afshari, Chargah and other tones. The book is released by Mahoor Publications.

IBNA: According to Dariush Pirniakan, ‘Softness of Sorrow’ includes 12 pieces of music in Afshari and Chargah tones, parts of which were improvised and released on CDs. A few pieces are recently added to the volume. 

“Musical pieces that are released in Iran are mainly composed in etude forms and therefore they do not convey the aesthetic and improvisation and musicality of the real works to the students. In fact, they deplete the student of any aesthetic senses. My main goal in compiling this book as well as my previous book – ‘Sight of Sweetheart’ – is to familiarize the art students with methods of improvisation and compositions beyond mere etudes,” he added. 

The book ‘Softness of Sorrow’ is published in 48 pages by Mahoor Publications. 

Pirniakan is given first-degree honors’ medal by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and is now academic member of Fine Arts Faculty of the University of Tehran and Iran Music House. 

‘Sight of Sweetheart’ and ‘Aqa Hosseinqoli’s Music Notes’ are other compilations by Pirniakan.
