Translator of “Human resource management in Olympic sport organizations”:

Succeeding in Olympics requires a scientific approach in sport’s management

29 Jul 2012 13:15
Rahim Ramazani-nejhad, one of the translators of “Human resource management in Olympic sport organizations”, said that succeeding in Olympics requires scientific management and plans.
IBNA: Concurrent with London’s 2012 Olympics and the participation of Iranian teams, IBNA carried out an interview with Rahim Ramazani-nejhad, professor of Gilan University’s sports’ management field. The talk was about assessing “Human resource management in Olympic sport organizations” and the role of sports’ managers in the success of countries which are participating in the Olympics.

Ramazani-nejhad said: “One of the book’s writers, Packianathan Chelladurai, is a professor in the School of Physical Activity and Educational Services. He has been teaching human resource management for more than 30 years and has penned numerous works on related topics so far.”

He added that the book can be handy for BA and MA students of sport’s management as well as the mangers of sport’s organizations. Holding a scientific approach, the book is about sport’s management particularly the Olympics games.

Unlike Iran, many organizations are affiliated with Olympics National Committee in other country. Accordingly some parts of the book, particularly issues related with the organizations and structures’ designs, fail to be practical in Iran. The deficiencies can indeed warn sports’ organizations for reviewing their management systems, he added.
He then talked about Iran’s situation in sport’s management saying that the field suffers from many weaknesses however the nutrition and medical section is good.

Many books have been written in the field of sport’s management, themed on science, he added and said: “Numerous books have been penned on the subject but sport’s managers should say whether they are useful in practice or no.”

Many scientific and practical books are written in western countries which are used by the managers as well, however in Iran things are not so and finally, the weakness, will have a negative effect on sports, he noted.

Moreover he said that Iran is themed on theories. Unfortunately we are strong in theories but our actions are weak. The students and professors don’t have a chance to experience the things which are presented at classes. Reviewing the management backgrounds of figures including Frederick Taylor, Henri Fayol and Gilbert we learn that their theories and works had the potentials of executive and practical works.

“Human Resource Management in Olympic Sport Organizations” by Packianathan Chelladurai and Alberto Madella has jointly been translated into Persian by Rahim Ramazani-nejhad, Homayoon Farahani and Naghme Karimi-nejhad. It has been marketed in Iran in 227 pages and 1000 copies by SAMT publications.
