The latest cultural headlines in the media. British company transfers translation rights to Iranian publisher
Tehran Times: Iran’s Avand Danesh Book Publishing Company has acquired the translation and publishing rights for books from John Wiley & Sons Publishing Company in London. Previously, Iranian publishers had to communicate with the Wiley office in London to obtain permission for publication. Now, however, they can take action via the Iranian representative, Avand Danesh announced in a press release on Saturday. John Wiley & Sons, Inc. is a global publishing company that specializes in academic publishing and markets its products to professionals and consumers, students and instructors in higher education, and researchers and practitioners in scientific, technical, medical and scholarly fields. Avand Danesh Book Publishing has been the official exclusive representative of Wiley in Iran since 1996, but its activity was limited to providing and purchasing Wiley books for Iranian consumers via orders and offering Wiley books at book fairs in Iran. Moreover, at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair this October, Wiley has arranged two sessions for Iranian publishers with the central theme of copyright protection. Iranian publishers can attend the meetings to be held with the collaboration of the Union of Tehran Publishers and Booksellers. --------------------------------------
