  The Turk happy with TIBF 24

This year Turk publishers have a salient presence at 24th Tehran International Book Fair and introduce recent Turkish publications to Iranian audiences. Meanwhile, Teda project is calling for Iranian translators to convert Turkish literature to Persian.
IBNA: Turkish publishers hold a few pavilions at this year’s book fair. One of them is Dianat Organization that has attended Tehran Book Fair for the third time. Dianat Publications presents books in different categories of religions, classics, tourism guide for Turkey, history, and literature. Works by Orhan Kemal (penname for Turkish novelist Mehmet Raşit Öğütçü), Orhan Veli (Turkish poet), and Yahya Kemal (leading Turkish author and politician) are found on the shelves of Dianat pavilion.

Among other Turkish works displayed at TIBF 24, one can mention childrne’s books, Turkish local and traditional music, and exquisite volumes of Quran and interpretations of Quran in Turkish.

In an interview with IBNA correspondent, Arif Karagoz, manager of Dianat Pavilion expressed his satisfaction with the presence of Iranian visitors, referring to two volumes of “Turkish-Turkish Dictionary” and “Turkish-Persian Dictionary” as bestsellers in the past days of the book fair. He believes that Iranians have good interactions with them and cultural relations are maintained at an appropriate level. Referring to the presence of Dianat Organziation in the last book fair, he said the organization is aware of the needs and demands of Iranian visitors.
Karagoz also stated that a number of visitors are translators seeking latest Turkish bestsellers.

Teda active at TIBF 24 

Next to these publishers, a considerable space at the International Hall of the book fair (second floor) is given to the representative of Culture and Tourism Ministry of Turkey and Teda Project. The books found in this pavilion are mainly for display; moreover there a many brochures introducing tourism industry of Turkey and tourist attracts to the visitors. 

Referring to 1500 volumes displayed at Teda pavilion, Ahmet Hamdi Harman Kaya cultural expert of Culture & Tourism Ministry of Turkey special guest of the 3rd day of TIBF said he was surprised by the number of visitors at Tehran Book Fair. The number of daily press of Tehran was another point of interest for Harman Kaya. “We monitor these publications every day at the embassy,” he added. 

He also elaborated on Teda project – Turkey’s support plans for Iranian publishers active in translation of Turkish works into Persian, remarking that at the moment about 29 publishers receive financial supports of Turkey’s Cultural Ministry. 

Manager of Teda Project said translators interested in this project can refer to www.tedaproject.gov.tr for information on conditions and supports.

Cengizhan: Tehran Book Fair a significant event 

There were two Turkish writers present at Teda pavilion. Gokhan Cengizhan (president of Turkish Authors Association) and Enver Ercan (Turkish poet) regarded Iranian culture as sincere and very close to Turkish culture. According to Cengizhan, Iranian visitors are very curious and ask many questions. 

Cengizhan finds Tehran International Book Fair as important at Tuyap Book Fair of Istanbul in terms of space and significance. He said: “The youth have an active presence at Tehran Book Fair and seem very interested. 

Having listed a number of Iranian literati as his close friends, Cengizhan hoped than cultural relations could be expanded through more interaction of literary institutes.
