IBNA: Amon Nilgun Company, whose main activity is to distribute foreign books of Medical Sciences in Iran, has brought more than 600 title books to Tehran International Book Fair at both subsidized and free halls. As an agency of publications like AFIP, Allured Business Media, FAO, National Geography Society, QMP, and WHO in Iran, Amon Nilgun presents its books in different categories of Medical Sciences, Agriculture, Zoology & Animal Science, Tourism, Astronomy, and Human Sciences (including History, Sociology & Anthropology, Other religions, and Literature) at TIBF.

One interesting shelf in this pavilion is Fiction where more than 40 titles of novel and short story collections are presented to visitors. All first-prints of 2009, 2010, and 2011, these books vary in genre, subject and geographical domain.

On Amon Nilgun’s shelves, “61 Hourse” by British thriller writer Lee Child, “A Father’s Kingdom” by Canadian Sheila Watson, the most recent works of Vonnegut, Munro, and Pulitzer Prize winner Jennifer Egan, Jane Smiley’s “Private Life”, debut Andrew Potter’s “The Theory of Light and Matter”, as well as volumes by Sudanese, Nigerian, Austrian, Italian, Spanish, Indian and Chinese storywriters are seen. These works are published by Random House in English and are offered in reasonable prices.

Haji Mohammad-Hossein, manager of Amon Nilgun pavilion at the subsidized part of the International Hall of TIBF finds this year's book fair quite average. She believes that serious audiences of specific books are mostly the literati, students and university professors who usually purchase their books during the first three days of the book fair, leaving the rest for common visitors who do not usually buy anything.

Exhausted by queries of these visitors, she added that photo books are the most wanted of this pavilion.

"44 Days of Iranian Revolution" displayed

Amon Nilgun manager then introduced two volumes by the National Geographic with most requests. "Journey of the Food" is an illustrated book about different food customs and world cuisines. The other volume, "44 Days: Iran and the Remaking of the World" (2009) relates the last 44 days leading to the Islamic Revolution of Iran through photos. The book is edited by Davit Burnett with a foreword and introduction by Christiane Amanpour and John Kifner. The book is offered by Amon Nilgun at the 24th Tehran International Book Fair.

Amon Nilgun pavilion is located at International Hall of Tehran International Book Fair (Second floor of Shabestan).

The 24th Tehran International Book Fair will run until 14th May 2011 at Imam Khomeini Mosalla of Tehran.
