Egyptian translator receives Pushkin Medal
Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the Pushkin Medal to Abu-Bakr Yusuf, a translator of Russian literature into Arabic for praising his efforts in preserving Russian literature and promoting the Russian culture. IBNA: According to Russia Today, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister for Middle East Affairs, Michael Bagdanov presented the Pushkin Medal to the Egyptian translator. He expressed his gratitude to the translator for introducing Russian poets and authors to the Arab world and his attempts in reinforcing the communications as well as Russia and the Arab world's cultural ties.
Abu-Bakr Yusuf has so far rendered the works of noted Russian authors including Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov, Alexander Kobrin and the poems of Alexander Pushkin into Arabic.
The Pushkin Medal is the highest honorary award given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the promotion of the Russian language and culture.
