“Humboldt's Gift” a work by American writer, Saul Bellow has been rendered into Persian for the second time.

IBNA: The book is translated into Persian by Soheil Somi and it is to be published by Qoqnoos.

The book was translated into Persian for the first time in 1990 by Abbas Karami far and it was published by Dabir and re-printed by Kosar.

Humboldt's Gift is a 1975 novel, which won the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and contributed to Bellow's winning the Nobel Prize in Literature the same year.

The novel, which Bellow intended to be a short story, is a roman à clef about Bellow's friendship with the poet Delmore Schwartz. It explores the changing relationship of art and power in a materialist America. This theme is addressed through the contrasting careers of two writers, Von Humboldt Fleisher (to some degree a version of Schwartz) and his protégé Charlie Citrine (to some degree a version of Bellow himself). Fleisher yearns to lift American society up through art but dies a failure. In contrast, Charlie Citrine makes quite a lot of money through his writing, especially from a Broadway play and a movie about a character named Von Trenck - a character modeled after Humboldt.

Saul Bellow (June 10, 1915 – April 5, 2005) was a Canadian-born American writer. For his literary contributions, Bellow was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, the Nobel Prize for Literature, and the National Medal of Arts. He is the only writer to have won the National Book Award three times, and the only writer to have been nominated for it six times.

In 1948, Bellow was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship that allowed him to move to Paris, where he began writing The Adventures of Augie March (1953). Critics have remarked on the resemblance between Bellow's picaresque novel and the great 17th Century Spanish classic Don Quixote.

Books as “‎Seize the day”, “Dangling Man”, “Henderson”, “The rain king”, “Herzog” and “The actual” have been translated into Persian so far.

Figures as Sima Zamani, Babak Tabraee, Mehrdad Irani talab, Fereshteh Davaran, Vahid Dastpak and Feriydoon Rezvanieh have translated the works.
