  TIBF wraps up with over 6m visitors

The closing ceremony of the 25th Tehran International Book Fair was held on May 12, 2012 at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground in the presence the minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Husseini.
IBNA: Top government officials including Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Husseini, Bahman Dorri, Cultural Deputy of Guidance Ministry and head of the book fair, and a number of former directors of the event were attended the ceremony.

In his address, the culture minister highlighted the Supreme Leader’s emphasis on observing Persian language grammar in the published works.

Husseini stated that the fair was open to publishers and exhibitors from around the globe excluding the propagators of corrupt, anti-Islamic, anti-humanistic thinking.

He went on to say that visitors from all classes including the common public, national and international figures, and the literati attended the book fair indicating the fair’s cultural magnificence.

Elsewhere in his address, Husseini asserted that 46% of the fair’s visitors were from Tehran and the rest came from other provinces of the country conveying a common care for books and book reading among provincials in Iran. “By and large, 70% of visitors were satisfied with the fair,” he added.

Prior to Husseini, Dorri addressed the audience in which he said that over 6 million visited the showcase during its exhibition. “Arranging various new sections like the Yas Hall, Quarter of a Century of Cultural Jihad Hall and the Islamic Awakening section boosted the event’s attraction.”

He further asserted that the book fair is a monumental move in the country which attracted millions.

Later in the ceremony, former directors of the fair were honored: Sabah Zangeneh, Alireza Barazesh, Mohammad Ali Shoaei, Mohsen Parviz, Ahmad Masjed Jamei, Mohammad Mehdi Karbaschi and Ehsanollah Hojati.

Moreover, the best exhibitors and media covering the 25th Tehran International Book Fair’s updates were praised in the ceremony.
