History novels should be close to reality
Talking about history novels, researcher of ancient Iran's history Ahmad Nouri said:" Compilation of history novels is a need of Iran's society, since some aren’t interested in reading research books and they are more interested in reading novels and fictions." IBNA: "Many books have been written in the field of Iran's ancient history and in those times history novels were works through which the people could read about their history. These kind of works should be close to reality however most historical characters are far from facts", he said.
Nowadays many don’t have the time and patience of reading difficult research works thus reading simple texts are much more considered, Nouri said.
He added:" Compiling history novels will help the people to learn about their historical background, since they can easily communicate with such kind of books. For instance the stories of "One Thousand and One Nights" are warmly welcomed and most of its stories take place in Persia and the stories are originally Iranian."
He said:" The book was created in India before the Achaemenid dynasty and it was translated into Persian (Pahlavi) before Alexander's invasion. The book was rendered into Arabic in the 3rd century AH when Baghdad was the center of science and literature."
He went on to say that people could become keen to search their history if history novels represent Iran's history and culture perfectly.
The researcher added that the authors of history novels should know that writing these kind of stories can bring Iran's civilization, culture and history inside the society and expand the people's historical data.
Some novelists and translators who render history novels into Persian include false information ignoring the research aspect. Moreover they magnify the characters which have committed many crimes and on the other hand devalue the figures that had impressing roles in history.
He presented a sample saying that novels which have been penned in Iran about Alexander differ with the related historical data.
He went on to say that history novelists should consider the main issue so the reader wouldn’t be misled with vague writings as the matter will in fact be a great embezzlement to the history of Iran.
