8 Feb 2012 11:19

Italy will be guest at the Madrid Book Fair, one of the most important book fairs in Spain, which will be held from May 25 to June 10.

IBNA: According to ANSA, a programme of meetings has been scheduled in collaboration with the Italian embassy in Spain and the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, sources in the book fair told ANSAmed.

This year, Spain is also guest of honour at the Turin Book Fair, a good opportunity to bring classic and modern Spanish and Italian literature together. The programme of the Book Fair in Madrid, which will be released in April, includes the presence at the opening ceremony of Claudio Magris, together with writers and publishers like Erri De Luca and Roberto Calasso. The fair also offers an opportunity to reread 20th-century Italian writers like Luigi Pirandello, Italo Calvino, Leonardo Sciascia and Elsa Morante, whose hundredth birthday is celebrated this year.
