18 Aug 2012 16:09

Alireza Naderi, researcher and butterfly specialist, has completed a field guide on Iranian butterflies which, as he claimed, is the result of over 400 trips in and outside of Iran.

IBNA: In an interview with IBNA, Naderi said the book is a field guide on butterflies in Iran.
As he said, the term “field guide” is used to refer to guidebooks which can be easily used in workplaces; unlike Atlases, field guides are not very heavy and can be taken to the fields where studies are being held.

He asserted that the book is the first work of its kind in Iran to be published on butterflies and follows all international standards.

Butterflies’ ecology and behaviors, their natural habitats and preserving them are some of the topics discussed in the book.

Elsewhere in his interview, Naderi said as many as 200 kinds of butterflies are covered in the volume while over 406 (and increasing) types have so far been identified in Iran.

A total of 1,000 copies of the book are published by Iranology Publications. Each copy is arranged in 272 pages.
