Book of the Year Award indebted to Season Award
On the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 20th Book of the Season Award, manager of the Book House Institute asserted that the award is a great contribution to the Book of the Year Award.
IBNA: Ali Shojaei Saein stated that Book of the Season Award has already selected 950 works since its first edition which is a great help in selections of the Book of the Year Award.
“Yesterday (June 19, 2012) was the 5th anniversary of the Book of the Season Award and the closing ceremony of its 20th edition was held properly,” said Saein in an interview with IBNA. “It seems that the award has achieved what was envisioned for it.”
“The bylaws of the Book of the Year Award limit the number of exquisite works that can be considered by the award; therefore, the Book of the Season Award is a great help to introduction and praising of such works,” he added Saein.
Manager of the Book House Institute went on to say that the Book of the Season Award is good means for introduction of the best published works in the country during a season. So, it is held 4 times a year in a ceremony less clunky than the Book of the Year Award and many writers and the literati gather together.
“The Book of the Season Award is a prelude to the Book of the Year Award,” added Saein. “It facilitates the selection and screening of the works; however, screenings differ a lot in the Book of the Year Award and are done based on specific mechanisms.”
“The Book of the Year Award is indebted to the Book of the Season Award both quantitatively and qualitatively. My estimation is that the two awards have promoted books and book-reading even though there are still many unsolved issues in the field. Such events are a great step to resolving the reading concern in the country.”
He further highlighted the decentralization of the Book of the Season Award and its arrangement in different cities of the country rather than Tehran. “Of the 20 editions of the award, we have mounted the last two editions in other cities. This is done to give scholars of the cities a better access to the event. We believe that this would disseminate the events effect throughout the country and the literati will be motivated to partake in the event more than before.”
