"Illustration Techniques and Comic Attraction" published

7 Feb 2012 15:07
Penned by Mohammad-Ali Sepehr Afghan, "Illustration Techniques and Comic Attraction" makes a survey of Georges Remi's art manifested in his Adventures of Tintin. The book is published by Soroush.
IBNA: Mohammad-Ali Sepehr Afghan said the book is the result of his MA thesis defended in 2006.

"I have an interest in comic books and I believe that we should learn about its techniques if we want to create interesting works of this kind for children. In general, mankind is more interested in image than words and comic is a significant media for pictorial communication but we have totally neglected it," he said.

Sepehr Afghan went on to say that no film adaptation has ever managed to repeat Remi's success. Remi's special talent in storytelling is unique and modeled by later writers. His stories are very simple and fluent, with particular attention to documentaries. In this book I have analyzed all Remi's creative techniques to reveal the reason for its global success – as his works are converted to over 70 living languages."

"Illustration Techniques and Comic Attraction" is published in 128 illustrated pages by Soroush Publications.

Sepehr Afghan is children's writer and illustrator and founder of the first Iranian comic strip magazine for children titled 'Sahel'.
