Martyr Motahhari’s works on WikiMotahhar
In a press conference held on Sunday (July 1, 2012) Manager of the Islamic Information and Document Center announced the release of Martyr Motahhari’s works in the WikiMotahhar. IBNA: Hujatoleslam Mohammad Hadi Yaghobnejad addressing a number of reporters stated that a total of 92 books by Motahhari were published until 2006 which are uploaded and organized in a new information database called the WikiMotahhar. Moreover, 56 titles and 400 articles are published about his personality, studies, life and political campaigns.
As he said, the encyclopedia of Martyr Motahhari (WikiMotahhar) encompasses 29 select speeches by the master and includes a considerable number of pictures of him. Interviews of major figures about Martyr Motahhari are also put on the WikiMotahhar.
He went on to say that the encyclopedia is titled as the WikiMotahhar because, like the Wikipedia, all the users are allowed to edit the entries throughout the system and propose their ideas. On the other hand, all the added information is viewed by experts of the related fields and are edited and published if approved and there would be no fear of misinformation. Interested researchers may log on to www.islamicdoc.org to access the databank.
He further asserted that Wikipedia expands by its users; in other words, as they gain information about various stuff in the website, they also are able to contribute to the expansion of the center; this is what happens in WikiMotahhar.
He said, WikiMotahhar has been on for three months with over 2,000 visitors every day.
He went on to say that the WikiMotahhar includes some 16,669 abstracts and 10,000 key terms which can be used to access the abstracts and their subsequent books.
Moreover, it consists of 4,850 main subjects and 5,790 reference topics, he added.
A glossary of specific terms is also added to the encyclopedia for the first time designed in a brainstorm system.
Manager of the Islamic Information and Document Center further asserted that the center is an affiliate to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) which was established in 2005 with the aim of supplying, organizing and presenting Islamic data.
He posited that one of most recurring concerns about religious resources is mismanagement of Islamic documents. “There is a whole lot of invaluable information in religious resources which we have not yet properly managed, organized and presented.”
