Sae'd Bagheri, a compiler of "A century of Persian poetry" collection, said that the first 21 volumes will be presented that the 25th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF). Last year 15 volumes were displayed at the fair.

IBNA: Bagheri said that the collection was compiled with the cooperation of Soheil Mahmoudi.

He added:" Every volume is about a noted poet of the last century; after the constitution. We think the complete collection will be released in two phases and every phase 50 volumes will be presented."

The works aren’t set chronologically and they were compiled according to our interests; however the work was done for variety since the works and forms of contemporary poets are close to each other, he stated.

The collection holds contemporary Persian poetries in old forms including ghazals, odes or quatrains as well as modern Persian poetry, he added.

Talking about the collection's compilation he added:" Every book holds an introduction penned in 30-40 pages and every poet's works are evaluated in between, then a selection of the poet's works are included. Each book is arranged in 100 pages.

He then said that the works were selected according to the compiler's choice. Moreover we tried to pick up impressive works which last in memories or those which have influenced other poets. Moreover the books hold pieces which were not among the best, but were warmly welcomed.

Bagheri added:" So far 27 volumes are prepared and handed over to the publisher. But 21 volumes will be presented at the 25th book fair."

Now I think we have reached the most difficult point. Currently we are compiling the book which is related to Nima Yooshij which will indeed be difficult. Although we have finished selecting the poems but we should consider the opinions presented about Nima and particularly the common mistakes which occur while reading his works, he said.

As all know, sometimes Nima used to write his poems on newspaper pieces or over cigarette papers, which made his writings illegible. Thus we should thank the efforts of Siroos Tahbaz who helped us a lot, he said.

The first 21 volumes of "A century of Persian poetry" will be presented at the 25th Tehran International Book Fair by Amirkabir publication.

The 25th Tehran International Book Fair will be held from May 2 to 12, 2012 at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground with the motto of "A Quarter of a Century of Cultural Jihad".
