During the press conference of 9th International Practical Book Fair, which was held this morning (November 1), the managing director of the Cultural Association of Iranian Publishers said that 88,000 foreign book titles will be offered at the fair of which 84,000 are in English, 3,600 are in Arabic and 1000 are in Persian.

IBNA: Ahad Rezaee said:" The books are the releases of 600 noted and distinguished foreign publishers which have been presented by their representatives in Iran."

He added:" Among the books, a total of 10,000 book titles are 2011 releases while 23,000 belong to 2010, 18,000 were published in 2009 and the rest were released in 2006-2009."

Since 80% of the presented books will belong to 2011 and 2010 he added:" A total of 32,000 are themed on humanities and social issues, 15,000 will be medical books, 14,000 will be engineering and technology books while 13,000 works will be on arts, agriculture and basic science."

In the field of art books, some 2000 works will be presented on architecture and urbanism. Moreover some 3300 book titles will be offered on computer and the book fair's books will be presented with at least a 10% discount, he added.

He went on to say that the Practical Book Fair is a sample of the foreign section of Tehran International Book Fair.

In other news, member of the cultural association's board of director Mahmoud Amouzgar said:" This year's fair will be held considering different organizations and institute's lack of budget."

Moreover he said that the fair will hold a one-day seminar named "Electronic books" which will be attended by publishers of electronic books as well as officials of different universities' electronic section.

The 9th International Book Fair of Academic and Practical books is slated for Nov. 5- 9 in Institute of Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults' Artistic and Cultural Creations Center.
