During the opening ceremony of the 25th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), Islamic Guidance and Culture Minister said:" We are awaiting a flourishing book fair with 24 years of experience in retrospect."

IBNA: The 25th edition of the Tehran International Book Fair was inaugurated Tuesday with the attendance of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, and other cultural officials.

During the opening ceremony Hosseini delivered a speech expressing his gratitude to the fair's organizers. He added:" In our school of thought, our prophet's miracles were books and books have an individual stance in our society."

He then talked about the book fair's massive number of visitors saying that the visit of 5 million people, during 10 days, is unique which is rare throughout the world.

He added that promoting the culture of reading is among the Supreme leader's demands and the book fair, is a tool, to fulfill his wish.

Talking about the fair's features he added:" During the 25th TIBF, the organizers of the previous edition will be honored and the visitors will get to know publishers and authors through literary and cultural sessions. Moreover some parts have been named after the martyrs and Hazrat Fatima (SA) birthday anniversary will be celebrated at the fair".

In other news, Deputy Minister of Islamic Guidance and Culture in cultural affairs talking about the 25th book fair and said:" Perhaps the book fair is the greatest event in the region which is attended by 77 countries."

Some 4,000 Iranian and foreign publishers are displaying about 400,000 book titles, he added.

The book fair has mounted various new sections including the halls of "A Quarter Century of Cultural Jihad", "Islamic Awakening" as well as a section which will present last year's publishing report.

The 25th Tehran International Book Fair, which opened to the public today, will run until May 12 at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla with the motto of "A Quarter of a Century of Cultural Jihad.
