Iranian graphic designer and university professor Farzad Adibi believes that publication of artists’ works holds many advantages while one of it is preventing parallel works.

IBNA: Talking about the necessities of releasing the works of visual arts’ artists as books, Adibi told IBNA: “The plan holds several advantages as the books can be a model for students through which they can get familiar with the artist’s styles and techniques.”

Moreover the they can help the researchers of the visual art’s history; since many artists may not be available but when such a book is released, the works are registered and the researchers can use it for compiling the history of visual arts, he added.

The books can even be useful for veteran and famous artists he said and added: “The artists needs to see one another’s works in order to avoid repeating the same idea or reviving the technique. Due to their thinking similarities, two artists may create similar works.”

However the publication of every book may lead to employment as well but the work has defaults as well; since the works of naïve artists will be released which will indeed mislead the reader, he added.

An instructor of visual arts may release the work of his student in order to encourage him, however it shouldn’t be presented as a sample, he noted.

Adibi added: “The works should be released by credible and professional publishers. Accordingly in order to select a work, the publishers should take help from advisors and the jury.

He then talked about releasing the artists’ memoir and biographies and said: “ I welcome such an idea, since it can be handy for art students to know about the artists’ life.”

Talking about his latest book he added: “An anthology of my works is about to be released by Nazar publications.”

Farzad Adibi holds a B.A in graphic design from Faculty of Fine Arts, Tehran University. He is a member of Iranian Graphic Designers Society(IGDS).

He is currently teaching graphic design at the university of Tehran and Shiraz. He is the illustrator of 28 publications such as: She-e-r, Adabiat-e-Dastani, Adabiat-o-Falsafeh, Maghaam, Sahneh, Soroosh, etc...
