Farhang-e Mo'aser publications held a commemoration for Gholam- Hussein Sadri-Afshar in order to honor 30 years of his Persian lexicography experiences. The session was held Sunday evening (Nov. 20) in which Bahaeddin Khoramshahi, Abdul-rahim Jafari and Ahmad Masjed Jame'i delivered speeches.

IBNA: As the session kicked off, the founder of Amir Kabir publications, Abdul-rahim Jafari said:" I envy Farhang-e Mo'aser publication's lexicography and praise their efforts for pursuing the work perfectly."

He added:" Moein Persian Dictionary was released in 1958 while no other Persian dictionary existed. During the same years Amir Kabir publications released Amir Kabir Persian dictionary."

Talking about the obstacles of lexicography he went on to say that during the mentioned time, lexicography was complicated as it made us to sell Amir Kabir dictionary in installments in order to continue the work. Some 16 years were spent for the publication of the 6 vol. series of Amir Kabir dictionary."

Lexicography requires a sound mind

In other news, lexicographer Kamran Fani said:" Mosaheb's unique work, in the filed of Iran's reference books, was mostly a miracle. The publication of the first encyclopedia in its new form was a distinguished work since he was a mathematician who indeed enjoyed a clear mind."

Moreover Fani talked about Sadri-Afshar saying that he is firstly a scholar particularly in the field of science and mathematics.

Farhang Moaser's dictionaries hold Int'l standards 

Furthermore translator and lexicographer Bahaeddin Khoramshahi said:" Farhang Moaser publishes dictionaries in international levels. Amir Kabir and Farhang Moaser publications boosted the lexicography standards in Iran."

I think selecting and inviting giant lexicographers can make Iran's lexicography international.


Lexicography requires scientific management

In other news, member of Tehran's Council Ahmad Masjed Jame'ie said:" Lexicography is a complicated work which indeed requires scientific management since it’s a group work as well."

30 years of Sadri-Afshar's work in lexicography should be honored, he said finally.

The session was held Sunday morning with the participation of many Iranian veterans and authors as well as renowned Iranian actor Reza Kianian.
