A session was held at TIBF to introduce a new Quranic translation into English by Prof. Fazlollah Nikayin.

IBNA: Titled at the Introduction of a new Quranic Translation into English, the session was held on Friday, May 4, 2012, in the presence of Prof. Nikayin.
In his keynote speech, Nikayin, translator of the first poetic translation of the Quran into English, stated that the current translations of the holy Quran into English are not that attractive for speakers of the language who know almost nothing about Arabic.

“I chose English because of its power to transfer the book’s message to the world and spent ten years to finish the work. I tried to present a beautiful, attractive work which could be easily memorized,” he stated.

He went on to say that he had to disregard many terms in the translation despite their beauty not to miss-translate the Quranic sentences. However, he has done his best to keep the English text rhythmic and interesting to read.

The session finished with praising Nikayin and introducing IDQS.org which is a though Quranic online portal.
The portal contains parts of Nikayin’s translation of the holy Quran.

Nikayin’s translation was first published in Chicago. The work will be published in Iran in the near future.

The 25th Tehran International Book Fair is being held at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground and will run through May 12, 2012.
