Commonalities of Iran, Indian subcontinent's people highlighted
A session was held in the 25th Tehran International Book Fair on evaluating the book of "Deccan Islamic-Iranian civilization & culture during the Bahamani dynasty" on Monday evening, May 7. IBNA: The meeting was attended by Seyyed Sadegh Sajjadi, Mohammad Hussein Saket and Habibullah Esmaeeli.
Firstly the book's author Mohsen Masoumi said:" The Muslims ruled Deccan for some 12 centuries. The Bahmani dynasty was the first independent Muslim government in South India. The house raised elites and had a vital role in scattering Iranian culture and Persian literature."
Then Mohammad Hussein Saket, the book's critic, said:" We had many commonalities with the dynasty accordingly the subcontinent should be considered more."
The book, for the first time, has evaluated the period's educational and judicial organizations, he added.
He then pointed out to a part of the book which is about "Ahmad Shah" saying that a question pops out here; "Has anyone ever named the rulers of Bahmani dynasty which have been praised jointly by Hindus and Muslims?" If such a character exists an interesting topic will be found for research. Furthermore Mohsen Masoumi answered to some of the critic's questions about choosing the dynasty for research saying: "The Bahmani dynasty was the first independent Muslim government in South India. They carried Islamic civilization and culture in the region."
The author of "Deccan Islamic-Iranian civilization & culture during the Bahamani dynasty" added:" Other related existing books are about the powers of north India like the sultans of Delhi, while the Bahmani dynasty was significant as the formed Shi'ism in Deccan."
During these 12 centuries, the military and financial figures were mostly Indians; particularly in cities and small villages where the Hindus were among the majorities.
Then Sajjadi added:" Class-based societies are common among Hindus. Moreover a part of the Muslim's bureaucracy was ruled by Indians."
He added: "The main important thing which we can call Islamic civilization is the merge of the civilizations of conquered lands and the emergence of new lands."
He said:" Indian dynasties have taken samples from Iranians in their art and culture. I think that researches should be made about the dynasties which ruled the subcontinent."
