While Book Supplying sector of Majilis was intended to buy 10thousand books from Tehran International Book Fair, this number increased to 14thousand books by seeing good works in the 22nd fair” said the Book supplying director of Majlis Aliakbar Zarebidaki to IBNA.

IBNA: Amongst all 4500 books are Persian, 2500 books are Latin and 7000 books are Arabic in different fields such as Human Science specially law, political, religion, Islamology, Iranology, history and geography.

Zare-bidaki added:”3months before the beginning of Tehran 22nd International Book Fair we started primary researches about Latin Publications and inspected all public publications carefully during the Fair to choose required books for the library.”

About the way of choosing Arabic books He reminded:”during the Fair 2 people were responsible to buy the books of this realm.”

Book supplying director of Majlis said that till now 70percent of these books are prepared to be used in reference and loan sections. Other 30 percent are related to Latin books which are at the end of organizing stage. It is predicted that till the end of this month all books be available in reference and loan sections.

He underlined that buying books and completing collection of works in Majlis will never end and said:”first buying of the center- after Tehran International Book Fair- starts next Sunday from Qom. We plan to add 30 thousand other books to the collection until the end of this year. In this case total number of books that exist here will reach 350 thousand.”

He mentioned that before buying books from the Fair the number of books in Majlis was 298 thousand and now it is 312 thousands.

He said:”we decide to attend to provincial Book Fairs once a month to buy those books which are not available in Tehran, like last year that by attending to 8 provincial fairs we could buy 8 thousand books.”

Responding to the question about those ancient and rare books not existing in Majlis, He said:”it has been planning in this case; we have negotiated with booksellers who sell ancient books to meet each other once a week to give us a list of these books. So we can decide to buy them after examining them.”

He mentioned to completion of Human Science thesis as the other goal of the Supplying sector and said:”before the second half of the last year, there were only 140 theses but now this number is 1140 thesis. According to negotiations with some reputable universities in Tehran and provinces, we undertake all costs of Human Science thesis such as law, politics, sociology, history and geography, religions and philosophy so that one copy of it be placed in Majlis.”

The aim of boosting thesis section in Majlis library is to make the research sources of the library complete so that the number of visitors specially university students will increase 2 or 3 times and added:”the library has 200-300 visitors that after fulfilling this plan it will reach 400-600 ones.”
