  Books count as best means for registration of ideas, Ahmadinejad

"Books are the most glorious, efficient means to register ideas and culture," said Iranian President Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the closing ceremony of the 27th Book of the Year of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
IBNA: "Registration of ideas and culture is necessary for making them permanent," he added. 

He said "as the main reason for creation of the world, human beings are hinged upon thought, knowledge and culture." 

"For ideas and culture to become permanent and effective, they need to be in accordance with human instinct and creation norms." 

The President went on to say that throughout history various ideas and kinds of knowledge emerged which faded away. "The only remnant ideas are those compatible with divinity and spirituality." 

He maintained that books are the best linking piece for humans, however, it should be remembered that not all books have the same features for linking humans together. "There are many books in the world which do not necessarily relate to humanity." 

"Sublime mentality, constructive thought and human culture are the joint human legacy. Like humans, knowledge and culture are free from borders, tribes or races." 

He marked the permanence of such great Persian poets as Hafiz whose poetry resembles a proximity to human sole related by all thinkers of the world. 

He stated that even with advanced communications technologies, books are still assumed to enjoy a superior status for communication. "God himself has taught humans how to write and learn. In today's world, books are the only means which connect all thinkers of the world." 

He asserted that the Book of the Year Award is an opportunity for linking hearts, thoughts and cultures. "It is one of the most glorious and efficient which is attended by many thinkers and literati." 

"I hereby congratulate on the works done by all those who had a hand in publishing books with higher human intentions for assisting human communities." 

He also extended gratitude to all those who failed to win the award because of the limited resources of the festival. He also thanked the organizers of the convention and regarded it as invaluable and nice. 

In his final statements, the President expressed hope that with the added potentials provided by the officials, "a more zealous attendance of the cultural icons in such conventions should be expected. 

Other speakers in the closing ceremony of the award were Drs Hadad Adel, Mohammad Husseini and Mohsen Parviz.
