On Sahifa Sajjadiyya
Moharram 25 is marked by the martyrdom anniversary of Ali-ibn Hussein (Imam Sajjad), 4th Shia imam. Sahifa Sajjadiyya is believed by Shia Muslims as the container of pure Muslim supplications by Imam Sajjad. IBNA: The 4th Shia imam was born in 38 hg (658 AD) in Medina. He was assumed numerous titles like Sajjad and Zei-al-Abeddin. He, then 23, witnessed the mutilation of his family in the Karbala incident where he suffered from raging fever and could not get to the battle zone. By and large, he passed the event in seemingly good trim to bare the grand legacy of his ancestor: leadership of the Muslim society. Numerous works have been written in Persian, Arabic, Urdu and other languages about the imam.
In 713 AD, his opponents poisoned him to death at the age of 56, and his body was buried in Baghi graveyard beside his uncle Imam Hassan Mojtaba (peace be upon him). The 35 years of Imam Sajjad's leadership were contemporary with the harshest social climate for the Muslim society given the reigns of Yazid ibn Moaviyeh and Valid ibn Abdolmalek.
6th book ever written in Islam Sahifa Sajjadiyya is cherished as Sahifa-e-Kamila, Sister of the Quran, Gospel of the Folk of the House, and Psalms of the Household of Muhammad (S).
The book counts as the first prayer manual in the world of Islam and the 3rd revered book for Shias compiled by Imam Sajjad's son, Imam Bagher. The book is believed to be the 6th book written after the emergence of Islam.
The supplications could not be more precise and right to the point and speak of how one can best communicate with the divine power and the human soul. The book is a perfect manual for praying through religious beliefs and principles. Indeed, it is an embodiment of human values, rights and social as well as cultural issues.
The supplications were made in the dark era when Bani Omayyids dynasty dominated the Islamic society. They should be viewed monumental social movements which initiated a ground-braking cultural and scientific cause.
The book was so significant in its time that Imam Sadegh (sixth Shia Imam) ordered his sons not to take the book out of Madina because seditions were underway. Moreover, many Islamic scholars have tried to preserve the book and provide interpretations for it.
The modern Sahifa Sajjadiyya is a collection of 54 supplications by Imam Sajjad. Id : 125229 |
