Librarianship unions to convene in April 2012
Secretary of the Union of Iranian Library and Information Science Student Associations said secretaries of scientific unions of Iran's university students would gather in a meeting slated for April 2012 in Isfahan. IBNA: Nima Gholami attended a conversation with IBNA delivering a report on the union's activities during last year in the Persian calendar.
As he stated, based on its memorandum of articles, the union's main mission is to satisfy the needs of librarianship students all over the country and try to create convergence and synergy among their communities at various universities with the aim of bolstering the level of librarianship in the country.
He asserted that the union has currently fallen behind its mission because of lack of proper management and coordination between various student unions in the country.
He went on to say that two new committees have been added to the union, namely, the Documentation and Coordination committees; the former is engaged in documenting and restoring the experiences of the registered members and the latter is formed to make bonds among all the related unions in the country.
The coordination committee has so far arranged two conferences for the scientific secretaries of student unions in Isfahan and Tehran universities.
He further added that the conferences are held to coordinate librarianship programs of the country in a year and the next edition of them is arranged to be held during April 2012 in Isfahan.
"We intend to be in line with other communities rather than supervising their performance," he added. "Because, we believe that supervision has a negative connotation."
He went on to say that a new post has been added to the union's (also called the ADKA) structure, deputy secretary, whose holder will be supposed to take part in all community meetings in the country regarding librarianship. This is aimed at resolving issues regarding ADKA and is expected to obviate unnecessary parallel works.
"We want to maintain a sense of dynamism among librarianship students of the country so they will become the future members of the community," he added.
ADKA is the only union in Iran in humanities, he stated. "There are many such unities in technical fields, but ADKA is the only one in the country in humanities which has been working for 6 years indicating dynamism of librarianship students in Iran."
There are near 4,000 scientific unions in the Islamic Republic of Iran which are being supported by the ministry of Sciences, Research and Technology.
ADKA is largely supported by foundations like the Book House Institute, librarianship publishers, etc. Id : 132834 |
