Int'l Day Festival
The 2nd International Day Festival of University of Tehran (UT) was held on Monday, May 28, by the university's international deputy office. During the ceremony the book of UT's Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) was unveiled. IBNA: The 2nd International Day Festival of University of Tehran was attended by the university's chancellor Farhad Rahbar, Deputy Minister of science in the international affairs Arsalan Qorbani, a group of the university's professors as well as foreign countries' ambassadors and the university's foreign students.
During the ceremony the book of UT's Memorandum of Understandings, as one of the university's main historical document, was unveiled. The book holds 217 agreements of the University of Tehran with 198 foreign credible universities of 66 countries.
During the ceremony, Deputy Minister of science in the international affairs Arsalan Qorbani talked about the significance of naming the day and its impact saying that the title of International day will pave the way for institutionalizing the international scientific cooperation, accordingly the infrastructures should be provided for expanding the ties.
He added:" Investing in the section would lead to the fulfillment of the country's macro policies, since experiences and technologies will be conveyed to the universities particularly the University of Tehran."
He went on to say that in international ties, scientific cooperation is an opportunity not a threat. Moreover our national and religious instructions emphasize on these collaborations and according to cultural- scientific diplomacy expanding the cultural-scientific ties is a priority of the Science Ministry.
Accordingly attracting foreign students is a part of the ministry's responsibilities in the international section he said and added:" We like to mark a day in the calendar as International Day in order to reinforce the international cooperation."
In order news, Farhad Rahbar expressed his gratitude to the ceremony's organizers which was held concurrent with the anniversary of ratifying the law of Tehran University's establishment.
He said:" Throughout the world, all scholars and universities try to develop science which knows no limits. The University of Tehran, indeed, has paved the grounds through attracting foreign students who are the scientific and cultural ambassadors and the messengers of friendship and love."
The University of Tehran has inked different MoUs with other countries in order to change experiences and science with all over the world, he added.
During the ceremony the university's foreign students, some 404 students from 43 countries, performed different programs and 25 top foreign students and 26 top professors were praised.
